Designing for high-density AI workloads

Begin at the rack and the workload

A high-density design should start with the intended systems and operating conditions. Power distribution, cooling connections, rack layout and service access need to be compatible with the equipment. The design brief should also describe the mix of workloads and how the deployment may evolve.

Coordinate the supporting systems

Cooling, electrical distribution, network paths and monitoring should be reviewed together. Local climate, water constraints, maintenance access and operating procedures shape the available choices. A design is easier to assess when its boundaries and dependencies are documented.

Make commissioning part of the plan

Deployment readiness should include integration checks, agreed acceptance criteria and a clear operational handover. We consider maintainability and service continuity alongside initial installation. The objective is an infrastructure system that can be operated, adapted and supported over its intended life.
